Satellite Truck Operations and Maintenance
Satellite Truck should be operated and maintained by operators who have knowledge and experience in the field. Full time satellite truck operators are available in various states of US including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Orange Country, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, San Diego, Long Beach, and Irvine. The National Association of Broadcasters offers a course on the operation of satellite trucks. Along with the formal education, one must know about the electronic devices. The satellite truck operators must know about each device on the truck and at what point in the transmission flow it is used.
Most modern electronic equipment is very difficult to maintain. It is too complicated to repair especially in the field. The main responsible of a truck operator is to identify the defective device quickly and replace it or engineer a way around it. This is the reason why the operators must have a strong transmission flow understanding. It also essential for an operator to know how to change the oil, fuel or air filter and troubleshoot common engine problems like burning oil, fuel pump failure etc.
Like all other vehicles, satellite trucks need regular maintenance. It must pass annual DOT inspection. It is found that older trucks are more difficult to maintain due to increased vehicle wear, availability of parts, and also availability of service personnel who have knowledge about the older trucks. Lifespan of most of satellite truck are between 8 and 10 years. Satellite operators must be aware of the satellite truck and the devices.
